Where we Started

MyLocalSurveyor started its journey back in 2015, It all started when the two like-minded founders Chris Atkinson and Daniel Jones shared very similar visions. Chris is a Chartered Building Survey and Daniel who was a client of Chris worked as an experienced technology consultant for enterprise companies, They both Very quickly realised that they shared the same frustration with how you had to spend hours on the phone trying to find a surveyor available on a given date and time, They both had the same vision and knew there had to be a better way to connect customers directly with reliable, affordable and trustworthy surveyors, MyLocalSurveyor was the outcome and has continued to become the one of most used platforms in the UK to book a survey.

Daniel suggested that they build a platform so people could find surveyors like Chris without paying the extortionate prices the comparison websites put on top of the surveyors fee. Chris knew exactly what Daniel meant as it not only affects the surveyors pocket but also the paying customer, There vision was to build a platform that surveyors can easily sign up to and once verified and approved they can begin accepting work without the customer being a charged a penny more than what the surveyors fee is. To achieve this they decided the best option would be to allow surveyors to pay a fixed monthly or annual fee to be a part of the platform and the price the surveyor charges for the survey is exactly what the customer pays to the surveyor with no hidden fees or commission.

Where we're Heading

Ever since the July 2015 MyLocalSurveyor has continued to grow at an unimaginable rate, Both Daniel and Chris could never have imagined that the conversation over a beer would become what MyLocalSurveyor is today.

MyLocalSurveyor has become one of the leading providers for all aspects of property surveys, Our customers range from Home owners, Property Buyers, Investors, First Time Buyers, Tenants, Estate Agents, and many more..

We are striving to provide the best possible service at the most affordable prices, To do this we use algorithms that perform real time checks and calculations from our network of surveyors based on the property requirements and location. Our algorithm then selects a surveyor based on a number of factors that best fits the property, the location and the survey required.

We are working to make MyLocalSurveyor as easy to use as possible and we're actively seeking to employ more developers to work on a new updated version of the website, platform and mobile apps for iOS and Android, We expect to launch our mobile apps and updated version of our website and our platform in October 2017 where there are endless new features being introduced such as public profiles for all our surveyors where customers can directly review our surveyors and also a community forum where general public can ask our surveyors questions and gain valuable advice for free.

How are your prices much cheaper than other websites?

We keep our overheads down by having one main office where we handle the whole process, Not only that but our primary rule from day one is to only charge the customer the fee the surveyor is charging for the given survey. In essence you are cutting the middle man out when you book a survey through MyLocalSurveyor as our platform is designed in a way where you are going direct to the surveyor. This helps the surveyors to keep their overheads low as they do not need to advertise for work, in most cases their whole work load is provided and managed through MyLocalSurveyor and usually they do not need to travel very far for surveys meaning you are getting a local surveyor at the best possible price without compromising quality.

Who will my surveyor be?

The surveyor is assigned during the booking process, All surveyors must be RICS approved and we manually verify all surveyors before we activate their MyLocalSurveyor account to ensure our customers are protected at all times. When you proceed with booking your survey either online or over the phone our system will perform checks and will find a surveyor that is best suited for the requirements, One of the checks is to confirm the surveyor is available to accept the survey and is not already fully booked. Once your survey has been secured our system will provide the direct contact details for the assigned surveyor where you are free to contact the surveyor before and after your survey. We only provide your contact details to the assigned surveyor.

How can i book if i don't know what date or time?

It is very common for customers to not know the exact time and date the surveyor can attend for example if you are buying a property, You have tenants in the property, ect... This is no problem for MyLocalSurveyor as during the booking process you have the option to complete a client instruction form, If you complete the form we can contact the person we need to arrange access with on your behalf, this does not delay your survey and in most cases we can schedule a surveyor for the time and date that works best for the person providing access for the surveyor. We have surveyors that work 7 days a week 8am - 6pm so appointments are very flexible.
